What does EN ISO 11611 certify?
Protective clothing for welding and allied processes. It covers spatter, brief flame contact and the heat that comes with the work, and it splits into Class 1 for lower spatter processes and Class 2 for heavier ones. It is a different standard from EN ISO 11612, which is general heat and flame.
Can I wear a hi vis over a welding coverall?
Not unless the hi vis is itself flame retardant. A standard polyester hi vis will melt, and molten polyester on skin is a worse injury than the one you were avoiding. FR hi vis exists and is what to specify where both are needed.
What else does a welder need beyond the coverall?
Eye and face protection matched to the process, gauntlets rather than general work gloves, and fume control. The eye protection shade depends on the process and the current, which is set out in the welding standards rather than by us.
